Today marks the one hundredth (100th) day since Nassau County Police Kenneth Baribault’s accident on the (LIE) Long Island Expressway.
According to Baribault’s loving sister, Danielle Rella, in a news conference earlier this month outside the Nassau State Supreme Court Building, (see video below) Officer Baribault condition is improving.
We wish him and his family well on his road to recovery.
If you do not have a Notice of Claim, you do not get to blame, says the law so a US$50-million notice of claim was made upon the County of Nassau by Salenger Sack Schwartz & Kimmel, LLP “protectively” for Officer Kenneth Baribault according to Marvin Salenger who is a partner at the firm.
Is that a whopping amount? Quite frankly, no. This was out done earlier this year by US$10-million by Parker Waichman Alonso, LLP who did a US$60-million notice of claim on the County of Nassau on Behalf of Rickey Ward for the Wrongful Death of his 6-Year-old daughter, Jewell Ward, who was alledged to have been drowned by her Mother, Leatrice Brewer.
Exactly three months ago on the morning of Sunday May 18, 2008, what were 30-year-old Officer Kenneth Baribault, 27-year-old Raheim Griffin and 25-year-old Marcin Bykuc driving?
Officer Kenneth Baribault
According to reports, Officer Baribault was patrolling in a white Chevrolet Impala which is a full-sized automobile built by (GM) General Motors for their Chevrolet division that was reintroduced in 2000 as a full-size front-wheel-drive car.

Marcin Bykuc
According to reports, Bykuc was driving a black Kia SUV. The make was not released but the styling of the vehicle suggest it is either a Kia Sportage (left) or Kia Sorento (right). After close examination the shape of the rear left window (sides not parrallel) and ground height of the rear left door (see accident photo), it was determined to be a Kia Sorento which Kia has been producing since 2003.

Raheim Griffin
According to reports, Griffin was driving a Silver Mercedes Benz CLK320 which is a mid-size rear-wheel drive coupé. While it is based on the C-Class, its styling cues, engine, and price range are closer to that of the E-class, leading some to believe that the CLK is a coupé version of the E-class.
