Rahiem Griffin Didn’t Hit Police Officer
It was always alleged that 28-year-old Rahiem Griffin had hit 31-year-old Nassau County Police Officer Kenneth Baribault on the (LIE) Long Island Expressway on Sunday, May 18, 2008 while he was driving a Silver Mercedes Benz CLK320 but according to an article that was published by the Daily News on Monday, May, 19, 2008, it had a caption that stated “A black SUV struck Nassau County cop Kenneth Baribault’s squad car” as seen highlighted in blue in the image below.
Was it a typo? It was possible so Matthew Kee of the Open Cubicle contacted one of two writers, Stephanie Gaskell, of the article, in August 2008 to confirm if it was in fact a typo or not and in a response Kee was told “Thank you so much for writing. The details we reported about this crash were given to us by the police, so maybe you want to write them a note and let them know they were wrong. Thanks for reading!”
As of March 30, 2009, the caption has not been changed and it will be interesting to see how Rahiem Griffin and his attorney will use this to their advantage in court against eyewitness testimony.
