23-Year-Old Ends 22 Years of Service
Whomever said “There is never a cop around when you need one” never lived in Suffolk County.
For 22 years, Glen Ciano served proudly with the Suffolk County Police Department.
While the veteran officer was responding to assist a fellow officer on Sunday, February, 22, 2009, his patrol car was struck by a 2007 Dodge Magnum which was making a left turn from Vanderbilt Parkway onto Commack Road.
The impact of the collision with the two vehicle sent Ciano’s patrol car off the road and into a utility pole. Unfortunately for Officer Ciano, his surviving family, friends and officers, his patrol car burst into flames and took his life.
It was later discovered that the 2007 Dodge Magnum was alledegly driven by Jose Borbon of Plainview.
