Marcin Bykuc Saved Griffin’s Life

25-year-old Marcin Bykuc did something he did not expect to do on Sunday, May 18, 2008 and that was saving the life of an alleged drunk driver.

Bykuc was pulled over in a black Kia SUV on the (LIE) Long Island Expressway by a 30-year-old Nassau County Police Officer, Kenneth Baribault, who was parked a few feet behind him in a Chevy Impala patrol car.

While Officer Baribault was in the patrol car, he was allegedly hit in the rear by 29-year-old Raheim Griffin in a Silver Mercedes Benz CLK320.

If both cars were not parked where they were, Griffin could have hit another vehicle or obstacle on the LIE causing a different outcome which could have taken his own life.

On the day of the accident, Officer Baribault taken to the hospital where it was discovered that he had spine, hip and head trauma. Baribault is currently in stable condition, but doctors stress he’s still in critical condition.

Fortunately for the officer, he was not on patrol in a Ford Crown Victoria which could burst into flames if not properly equipped with a Fire Panel.
